This is a young family of five. Mom is transitioning back to full-time work for the first time since having kids. Their oldest daughter is in first grade in a dual-language Spanish immersion program. Their second son is enrolled in a half-day preschool program, attending five days a week. Their youngest son also goes to preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while he is home with Mom on the other days. There’s a lot of coordination involved in their daily routine!
“They need care for their two sons – the youngest, for the entire time (9am-3pm), and the middle, John, after he gets home from preschool (12:30-3pm). The parents will be responsible for picking up their middle son from preschool. The nanny would ideally make lunch for the boys and supervise them until Mom returns at 3:00 PM. Both boys have a rest time from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
Their oldest will get home around 2:30 from school. If they find a nanny who really wants a full day until 5pm, then care will include their daughter after her school day ends.
As a family, they enjoy music, dancing, and humor. They value physical activities such as playing outside, biking, scootering, and watching movies and shows together. The children love coloring, crafting, imaginative play, building forts, and engaging in simple games. They place a high value on friendships and the deep connections they have within their neighborhood, workplace, and spiritual communities.
The family is looking for someone who:
– Has experience working with young children and enjoys being with them
– Is compassionate and patient
– Is energetic
– Is proactive in planning daily activities and playtime
– Takes pride in her work and understands the important role she plays in their family
They want their children to listen, be kind, and stay safe in reasonable and age-appropriate ways. They address behaviors such as hitting, throwing toys, yelling in response, or ignoring specific instructions (especially regarding safety or respect) promptly. For hitting or yelling, they utilize time-outs on the steps and set a timer for 1-3 minutes. For ignoring necessary instructions, they count to three or redirect as needed. Any toys that are thrown will be taken away for the rest of the day.
The family may consider a nanny who needs to bring her child to work.
