Location: Charlotte, NC 28205 / Plaza Midwood area
Start Date: Flexible trial beginning as early as September 10; regular start anticipated around early October
Schedule: Monday through Friday; 40 guaranteed paid hours per week, with a 30-minute unpaid break. Daily start and end times will be finalized with the selected nanny and will generally fall between approximately 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Occasional earlier starts or later finishes may be needed with advance discussion whenever possible.
Compensation: $28–$32 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

A warm, active family in Charlotte is seeking an experienced, engaging, and highly dependable full-time nanny for their two young daughters. Their oldest is an outgoing and social 2½-year-old who thrives with outdoor time, activities, and opportunities to interact with other children. She enjoys parks, art projects, numbers, learning activities, and exploring the world around her. Her younger sister is currently a newborn.
The family is moving into a new home in the Plaza Midwood area and hopes to find a nanny who can become a trusted, valued, long-term part of their household. One parent works from home much of the time, so the ideal candidate will be comfortable independently managing the children’s day while communicating thoughtfully with the parents.
The family has a sweet, professionally trained, and friendly Lab/Border Collie mix. No pet care is expected.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal nanny will bring substantial professional nanny, teaching, or early-childhood experience, along with strong infant and toddler knowledge. Formal education credentials are welcome but not required; demonstrated experience, sound judgment, and a genuine ability to create enriching days for young children matter most.
This family is seeking someone warm, attentive, proactive, and deeply engaged. They would love a nanny who enjoys teaching through play, planning age-appropriate activities, getting out into the community, and building a predictable but fun routine.
Their previous nanny created a wonderful balance of structure and joy through letters, numbers, sign language, outdoor play, scheduled activities, and regular social interaction with other children. The family hopes to find someone with a similar enthusiasm for early learning, creativity, and active engagement.
Minimal personal phone use during working hours is important. The nanny should be present, observant, and actively interacting with the children throughout the day.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities will be fully child-focused and include:
– Providing attentive, nurturing care for both children
– Preparing bottles and cleaning bottles and feeding supplies
– Following the children’s schedules, routines, wake windows, and developmental needs
– Supporting safe sleep practices and AAP guidelines, including an empty crib and no co-sleeping
– Planning engaging, developmentally appropriate activities, art projects, reading, music, and learning-through-play opportunities
– Spending time outdoors and arranging age-appropriate outings, including parks, classes, playdates, libraries, and children’s activities
– Encouraging socialization, curiosity, independence, creativity, and age-appropriate boundaries
– Supporting the infant’s developmental milestones as she grows
– Preparing healthy meals and snacks for the children
– Driving the children to preschool, activities, appointments, and outings as needed
– Maintaining good hand hygiene, including frequent handwashing for the nanny and children, especially before meals
– Communicating regularly with the parents about schedules, routines, needs, and developmental updates
– Communicating openly and promptly about any injury, concern, or accidental property damage
The older child may attend preschool approximately two mornings per week from 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. If enrolled, the nanny will handle drop-off and pickup while caring for the younger child.
Driving
Driving is an essential part of this position. The family expects to provide a family vehicle for most nanny-related driving, although there may occasionally be days when the nanny needs her own reliable vehicle.
A clean driving record and confidence transporting young children are required. When using the family vehicle, the nanny is expected to return and maintain it in the same clean, orderly condition in which it was provided.
Household Responsibilities
This is not a general housekeeping position. However, the nanny will be responsible for cleanliness and organization directly related to the children and the spaces used during the workday. This includes:
– Washing bottles, children’s dishes, and cooking items
– Preparing meals for the children and cleaning up afterward
– Tidying and organizing children’s spaces, toys, and shared areas used during the day
– Sweeping, vacuuming, or Swiffering areas used by the children as needed
– Washing, folding, and putting away the children’s laundry, including clothing, bedding, and bath towels
– Handling household laundry when it is combined with the children’s load, including washing, drying, hanging, and folding
– Leaving shared living areas used during the day tidy at the end of each shift
The family plans to employ professional housekeepers approximately every other week for deeper household cleaning, including floors, bathrooms, kitchen cleaning, and dusting. These deeper-cleaning duties are outside the nanny’s scope.
