A warm, thoughtful professional family in Durham is seeking an experienced, engaging Nanny / Family Assistant to care for their daughter, and newborn son. The family is looking for a career-minded candidate who enjoys becoming a valued, long-term part of a family and will partner respectfully with parents in caring for their children.
Their toddler is curious, affectionate, and enjoys water play, stuffed animals, books, music, and learning alongside her parents. The family values child-led development, limited screen time, healthy routines, and Montessori-inspired care.
Schedule & Compensation
The family is offering approximately 30–40 hours per week during October and November. Beginning afterward, the position will increase to approximately 50–55 hours per week with an average schedule of 7:30am to 5:30pm
The family guarantees 40 paid hours per week year-round, with the nanny expected to average approximately 45–50 hours per week over the course of the position.

A predictable weekly schedule will be established with the selected candidate. No regular evenings or weekends are required.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities will include attentive care for the newborn and toddler, creating a safe, warm, and developmentally appropriate daily routine, and supporting the family during the mother’s maternity leave.
Duties include:
– Loving, hands-on care for a newborn and toddler
– Assisting with the newborn while a parent is on leave
– Picking up the toddler from her half-day Montessori program each weekday
– Planning engaging, age-appropriate activities, reading, music, outdoor time, and play
– Supporting healthy routines, naps, meals, and developmental milestones
– Preparing healthy meals for the children and family as agreed
– Meal planning and grocery or household errands related to the children
– Children’s laundry
– Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of areas used by the children
– Driving the children in the nanny’s reliable personal vehicle
– Communicating openly, professionally, and respectfully with parents
The family has a monthly cleaning service; no deep housekeeping is required.
